MBA Fhernando Colunga
Fhernando Colunga, born in Mexico, has lived most of his life in Europe. He lives grateful to life for his family, he believes in the power of mental clarity to achieve a better quality of life and in the improvement of the human condition through the effective management of technology. Through the study and practice of different self-awareness techniques such as psychoanalysis, he has found the support systems which have the greatest impact on his personal and professional development and offers his value as a driving agent of progress, integration and global co-operation.
President of AMEXIM, he has more than 25 years of experience in the international fashion industry. He studied fashion in Milan and London, and business in Mexico and the United States at HARVARD University. He graduated with an MBA from the Nyenrode Business University, the Netherlands Business School.
He has represented Great Britain’s ‘FASHION IS GREAT’ campaign which promotes the British fashion industry globally. His luxury brand, COLUNGA London, allowed him to collaborate with the British royal family and to be published in a wide range of media in Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, the United States and the United Kingdom. He has also been featured in trade magazines including ELLE, InStyle, Harper’s BAZAAR and British VOGUE.
He has collaborated with Aston Martin, the British luxury car brand associated with James Bond. He was a special guest on HOLLAND’S NEXT TOP MODEL broadcast in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, and presented a retrospective of his work during Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday celebrations.
In Mexico he has been recognised by the newspapers El Financiero, Excelsior, Milenio and Reforma, as well as by the magazines LÍDERES, Entrepreneur, Quien and Forbes. During the royal visit he represented the fashion industry with Charles, Prince of Wales and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles.
Fhernando Colunga, in recognition of his career at both the national and international level, was recently included in the book ‘THOSE WHO INSPIRE MEXICO’ as one of the 107 cases that most inspire the new Mexican generations, a distinction shared with select personalities.
‘THOSE WHO INSPIRE’ is a global movement endorsed by UNESCO.
As Keynote Speaker, he has been invited by the Governments of the states of Puebla, Guanajuato, Tlaxcala, Michoacán, Oaxaca and Mexico City, as well as by the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies ITESM and different private events to inspire audiences.
As a high-performance, high endurance athlete, he has run the CDMX, New York and Tokyo marathons.
In 2015, he launched the Fashioning MEXICO initiative as the beginning of the national strategy to bring structure, professionalise and institutionalise the fashion industry in Mexico; recently and as a follow-up to said strategy, he founded the Mexican Association of the Fashion Industry, AMEXIM, with the vision of being the most important, influential and effective organization for the development and internationalisation of high-end fashion brands and businesses in Mexico and, through a system of corporate intelligence, turn them into agents of creative evolution at a global level.
